When your business is handling a large-scale project, your website should do more than look polished. It should help people understand the size, quality, and professionalism of the work you do.
For this architectural photography shoot, I headed to LSU's campus in Baton Rouge to photograph several completed campus window installations for Manko Window Systems. Photographing on campus grounds requires much planning beforehand, paperwork, insurance and background checks, etc. However, we can handle it all, and carry the coverage needed to always get approved, even with aerial photography. An often overlooked aspect to consider when photographing any educational facilities is "seasonal timing", which typically means scheduling when the weather, and lighting is right, as well as during a time when students and higher security is not in full swing. Combining this with times when the grass is green and around other photoshoots can be a challenge, but one I love to take on, time and again.
Professionally photographing properties like this means showcasing finished spaces, but it's also ideal to capture before photos, as well as construction progress, which can really allow give way for more useable content, as these projects can take several months or more to complete.
I worked hard to capture exterior details, and wide-angle views in a way that feels clear and intentional, while also showing the buildings as a whole to communicate the scale of Manko's work. Strong images help potential clients, developers, and partners quickly see the value you bring to the table.
Large projects often involve multiple phases, multiple stakeholders, and long timelines. Your website needs to keep up with that pace. If your images are outdated, too limited, or not aligned with your current work, you may miss an opportunity to build trust.
Fresh photography can help you present your business as active, capable, and ready for the next job. It also gives you content to use across project pages, portfolio galleries, proposals, and social media.
For commercial and architectural clients, the most effective websites usually include a mix of wide exterior images, detailed interior views, drone photography, and progress documentation. That combination gives visitors a fuller sense of the scope and craftsmanship involved.
In Baton Rouge and throughout Louisiana, this kind of visual storytelling is especially valuable for architects, builders, developers, and real estate teams who need to present complex projects with confidence.
When you’re updating your site, keep the layout simple. Group images by project, use short descriptions, and make sure visitors can quickly find the information they need. A clean presentation makes your work feel even more professional and easier to understand.
If your brand relies on large-scale commercial work, your website should reflect that same level of organization and attention to detail.
This project reflects what we do best: making the process simple and easy. It's common to be working for a client that is not available in person, and can't be on the session date. Manko Windows is based out of Kansas, completed these construction projects in Baton Rouge, and we are based out of Lake Charles. However, once Manko expressed their photography needs, a few details about their overall marketing photography goals, we were able to create an estimated timeline to get everything done in an efficient manner, and then reach out to the right LSU contact to begin the approval and scheduling process, all with Manko simply included in the correspondence. This allowed them to continue their own work, while allowing us to coordinate and communicate with Louisiana State University.
If your website needs updated imagery that better represents your larger projects, now is a great time to make it happen.
When time allows, I enjoy creating and delivering bonus marketing material: aerial video clips. Because these so closely match the final photos, they can easily be blended into your website and social content to provide motion and more interest.
